First steamed Easter 1995, steamed each year since. Ref Funnel 88. 1993-96 fitted with 1983 Historic Steam Ltd. (Kew Bridge Steam Museum) 3-drum WTB. Coal fired, 40 sqft hs. Steam drum 10" dia, mud drums 4" dia x 36" long, 114 copper tubes. (Formerly in VICTORIA 1983-93). Previously fitted with 1954 W. Sisson & Co. Ltd. (Gloucester) 4" x 4" sv Single with enclosed crankcase and Meyer expansion valve. Gearbox reverse. Current engine and boiler fitted 2002

Hull originally fitted with diesel engine. Fitted with Tim Blackstaffe steam plant when aquired. Current engine found in Cannery in Alaska. Engine reportedly from passenger boat in Sitka when Russia sold Alaska to USA (1867). Possibly in BARANOFF. Converted to screw propulsion in 1871 in Victoria, Canada. ADVANCE was the name of first US arctic explorer's (EK Kane) boat.

Al Hadir

Built 1988/89 from a Rupert Latham moulding and hull kit. Launched March 1989. Originally fitted with ‘Swan’ engine and an ‘Illingworth’ boiler from ‘Finch’ built by Raymond Vallings. Re-engined winter of 1990/91 with a Stuart 6A built by owner. Steamed every year since launch. Re-boilered winter of 2003/4 with a VWT boiler similar to ‘Illingworth’ but with coiled generator tubes and a ‘Water Wall’ designed and built by owner. Externally indistinguishable from the original. Taken to France every Summer since 1990 where she has steamed more miles than in U.K. Has only failed to get home under her own steam on one occasion.

Hull acquired 1974 by D. C. Burnage, restored and re-ribbed at Bedford, steam fitted 1975-6, re-launched July 1976. Acquired by T. D. Casey July 1977. Ref Funnel 12. Acquired by V. Norman March 1987. Laid up 1998-9. I acquired Allison Marie from Mr Vic Norman in November 2008. She had been decommissioned as the engine and boiler had been removed and stored in-doors, however, the hull had been left outside at Rencomb Airfield near Cirencester, and therefore as a result of exposure to the elements she had suffered some deterioration. Between late 2012 and mid 2015 Kevin Halcrow of Lakeland Wooden Boats undertook a number of repairs to the hull. These included repairs to the transom top, replacing a 10ft section of shear plank, sections of the gunwhale, various sections of planking, fore and aft sections of garboards on both sides, removal and replacement of front sections of the keel and hog. All seams were raked out below the waterline and re-caulked with cotton and polyurethane sealant whilst seams above the waterline were splined with mahogany. Work has now commenced on fitting the steam plant and extending the prop shaft to suit the engine's new location.

Steamed on average three times a week May to Nov 1996-97. Ref Funnel 94 and 97. Original steam plant now in SAFANNY. Purchased from Dick Bradford by Nigel Woodward-Sheath, Henley in Arden. It is trailered to Stratford on Avon and has participated in the annual River Festivals, which is the first week end in July,

The 'history' is short and started 2015 as a new build in switzerland finished by the end of 2019. The idea was to build a new steamboat based on a previously owned Stuart 5A. The steamboat contains design elements of art nouveau and art deco and the passion of the owner for the novels of the french writer Jules Verne... It was officially registered in Switzerland (Mai 2017) as a steam boat with the sign BL180... Many thanks Ann for being so patient during the building phase and for your interest... Christoph

Anachronism was built over many years by former owner John Marrison of Benfleet -on-sea, Essex. Sadly he passed away before fully completing the project though he did manage to launch her under steam before he became ill. I purchased the boat to fulfil a long term dream to own a steam launch having being interested in boats since my school days. On purchasing the boat I had the opportunity to install a replica of a Belliss High Speed Steam Launch Engine which Mr J Maltby happened to have in his workshop. This replaced a home built Leak Compound. The original boiler had had little use and thankfully passed hydraulic and ultrasonic inspection. There was no steering gear so I subsequently installed a binnacle to accommodate Vetus hydraulic steering gear. Along the way we required various items to be cast or fabricated including a new wet ashpan, cast iron firebars, steering wheel and cover, brass oiler and Steam condenser. We utilised the CAD 3D design skills of my son to produce various patterns and DXF files and have learned new skills along the way. First launch on Windermere was successful with several 'sea trials' completed. There is still work to do!

New launch built to suit the vintage Thornycroft engine. The engine is thought to have been a service engine from a Naval vessel which had authentic Thornycroft pattern reversing gear added c1900’s. Speed on Windermere has been measured as 15 mph at 680 rpm with the engine delivering 11 IHP.

Artemis

Built for 54 ton yawl ARTEMIS, owned F. L. Pearson 1899 -1904, by Summers , Payne , and Hatcher , the launch and boat building division of S.&P. The original engine is still installed ,but the S.&S. boiler is kept in store and a modern (2009) Glyn Lancaster-Jones Lune valley type is currently used. 2nd owner was Member of Parliament William Nicholson (RYS) until 1939. After the war the "big" Artemis became a house boat and the launch was sold off. The launch Artemis was based for several decades on the Cam at Cambridge until purchased by Mike and Susan Phillips who trailer her to events from their base on the Tamar .

Aurora

Originally a Broads motor hire boat with cabin, converted to an open steam launch with a vertical firetube boiler by Derek Brown in the early 1980s and steamed regularly on the Thames until 2003 when she was aquired by Bob and Dot Bullough who steamed her regularly on Windermere. Since Bob's death in 2011 Dot has continued to steam Aurora on Windermere and has taken her to various rallies across the country and to Scotland. In 2013 Aurora was fitted by Roger Mallinson with a small side wheel in conjunction with the tiller which enables Dot to handle Aurora on her own.
